HR Generalist

Job Summary

The HR Generalist is responsible for supporting a wide range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, compliance, and HR policy implementation. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and management, ensuring HR processes run smoothly while promoting a positive, compliant, and productive workplace culture. The HR Generalist works closely with leadership to align HR practices with organizational goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment activities, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, and offer letters
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding, orientation, and documentation
  • Ensure accurate completion and maintenance of personnel and employment records

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to policies, procedures, and HR programs
  • Address employee concerns professionally and confidentially, escalating issues when necessary
  • Support investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution in accordance with company policies

Benefits and Compensation

  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
  • Assist employees with benefit enrollment, changes, and questions
  • Support compensation processes, including salary changes, job evaluations, and audits

Performance Management and Training

  • Assist in administering performance review processes and tracking performance documentation
  • Support employee development initiatives, training programs, and compliance training
  • Maintain training records and assist with workforce development initiatives

HR Compliance and Policy Administration

  • Ensure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Assist in updating and enforcing HR policies, handbooks, and procedures
  • Maintain accurate HR records and prepare reports as needed

HR Operations and Support

  • Maintain HRIS systems, employee files, and data accuracy
  • Generate HR metrics and reports for leadership
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal reviews
  • Collaborate with management on workforce planning and organizational initiatives

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of HR principles, employment laws, and best practices
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and standard office software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in a generalist HR role or related HR experience preferred
  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar) a plus

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Primarily office environment
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and use standard office equipment
  • Occasional lifting of files or office materials
